DESIGNERS BERMUDEZ AND GRAVES JOIN PARCAI DESIGNS

Parcai Designs is excited to announce the addition of artists Alyssa Bermudez and Lisa Graves to their agency.

A born and bred New Yorker, Alyssa Bermudez’s recent move to Tasmania has led her to discover a limitless wellspring of inspiration in the form of an urban and rural coalescence. Her artistic framework stems from her undergraduate and graduate degree courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York where she studied art history, illustration, computer animation and interactive media. Illustration is her main form of communication and memory keeping, and she believes that even the smallest life experiences can be the greatest asset to inspired creations. “To me,” Alyssa says, “Art is a powerful motivator which equips me with the ability to transcribe my imagination into something tangible. I hope to direct those who view my work into a deeper experience with curated colour, delightful subject matter and professional craftsmanship.”

Alyssa’s newest passions and inspirations include hiking around beautiful Tasmania and tending to her garden- the only one she’s ever had outside of her New York classic windowsill style garden. She hosts weekly art classes for little ones and adults of all ages where they explore drawing, painting, and ceramics. Lastly, she couldn’t be her true self without her little dogs, Barkley and Meeko. She has been learning to sew and they have graciously modeled most of her creations.

As a little girl, Lisa Graves would sit on the floor of her father's sign shop, dreaming that her sketches would come to life. One could say she realized that dream with a design career that propelled her from that floor to the high-rises of Manhattan. In 2005, Lisa established Lisa Graves Design, and realized dreams for clients coast to coast.

Lisa loves studying (and drawing) history and going out on school visits to meet with aspiring young authors and illustrators. She lives in Medway, MA with 2 very messy children and her dog, (King) Henry.

You can find more details about each of these talented artists and their work at www.ParcaiDesigns.com.

ARTISTS DAWN GONZALES AND NATALIE SORRENTINO JOIN PARCAI DESIGNS

Parcai Designs is excited to announce the addition of artists Dawn Gonzales and Natalie Sorrentino to their agency.

Dawn Gonzales is a freelance illustrator, designer and crafter living in the Bay area by way of Arizona, Wyoming, and New Mexico! She received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Illustration at the University of Arizona. After many years working in Marketing and Design for apparel companies including Gap Inc, she switched her artistic gears to fall back on her passion for art and good ol’ fashioned analog sketching. Combining a hand drawn feel with layers of color, textures and detailed line work, Dawn creates on-trend, joyous and energetic illustrations for use in a variety of markets. These days she loves the work of late collage artist Rex Ray, hand drawn typography and anything neon. A lover of all animals, she also enjoys creating custom embroidered pet portraits for friends and family.

Natalie Sorrentino was given her first watercolor set from her Godfather Jack at the age of three and she hasn't separated from her medium ever since.  In 2004, she graduated from Alverno College with a degree in Art Therapy. Over the years, she has been fortunate to experience different environments with a variety of populations.  Whether making art with her clients or creating personal works, commissioned pieces or greeting cards, Natalie is deeply drawn into the stories that the human experience tell.  She wholeheartedly believes that every individual is their own narrator eagerly awaiting to weave their personal tale.  Natalie's quirky watercolors give us a peak into the window of her story; one shaped by family, friends, great conversation, fantastic growth... and maybe even a little sprinkle of her father, writer John D. Haefele's, adoration of the weird world of H.P. Lovecraft.

You can find more details about each of these talented artists and their work at www.ParcaiDesigns.com.

PARCAI DESIGNS SIGNS ACCOMPLISHED ILLUSTRATOR WENDY HOGUE BERRY

Parcai Designs is excited to announce the addition of accomplished illustrator, Wendy Hogue Berry to the agency.

Wendy is an accomplished illustrator and graphic designer. She started her career as a graphic artist for a large bi-weekly newspaper and won several Press Association awards for both page layout and illustration.  In 2002, she switched focus in order to spend more time with family, and to apply her passion for art and natural talent to a fulltime career as a freelance artist. Wendy has been successful in selling her art both on Artfire and Etsy. She has illustrated several children’s books, and she authored and illustrated her own children’s story called “The Amazing Brodie.”

Working in graphite, watercolor, and color pencil, she creates vibrant, realistic art inspired by family, nature, and architecture.  Her home is surrounded by fields and woods, so she always has her camera ready for the chance sighting of bird or beast through the window.  It’s common to see Wendy run outside, camera in hand (no matter the weather), to get the perfect shot to inspire her art.  Each new project brings both excitement and the opportunity to learn something new, and she looks forward to working with manufacturers to apply her unique designs to a variety of product lines.

Learn more about Wendy and see her gallery of designs available for licensing at www.ParcaiDesigns.com.

Wendy’s designs will also be on display in the Parcai Designs booth, #451, at Surtex 2015. Surtex is the most important show for the art and design business, and the only marketplace in North America dedicated to the sale and licensing of surface designs for products of all kinds. Surtex is held at the Javits Convention Center in New York City, May 17-19.

ACCOMPLISHED ILLUSTRATOR PHIL MARDEN NOW REPRESENTED BY PARCAI DESIGNS

Parcai Designs is excited to announce the addition of accomplished illustrator, Phil Marden to their agency.

Phil Marden began life in the Chicago area where he was into baseball and coloring. He went on to study Animal Behavior, all the while filling sketch pad after sketch pad with his cartoon images. After college, he moved to New York City where he worked as a layout artist and graphic designer while honing his skills as an illustrator, eventually getting illustration gigs for dozens of publications, books and advertising as well as designing animated characters and backgrounds for commercials, TV shows and movies, including the remake of The Stepford Wives.  Phil illustrated regular columns in THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE BOSTON GLOBE, SPY MAGAZINE, SELF, GOLF FOR WOMEN and RADAR and one of the commercials he designed appeared in MOMA's retrospective of the animation studio, The Ink Tank.

Phil's work is influenced by mid-century design and classic illustrators like William Steig and Otto Soglow.  He's always had a keen interest in product design and has been an avid collector of decorated objects from flea markets, antique shops and thrift stores.  In 2011, he bought an embroidery machine and started applying his own fun, graphic style to a line of products, which he sells at shops and craft fairs around his adopted hometown of Portland, Oregon. Following this initial success of applying his designs to products, Phil is excited to offer his designs to a wide variety of manufacturers for licensing.

Learn more about Phil Marden and see his gallery of designs available for licensing at www.ParcaiDesigns.com.

Phil’s designs will also be on display in the Parcai Designs booth, #451, at Surtex 2015. ARTIST CLAUDIA OLIVOS BRINGS A WEALTH OF WHIMISICAL ART TO PARCAI DESIGNS

Parcai Designs is excited to announce the addition of artist Claudia Olivos to their team.

Claudia Olivos, an accomplished artist and teacher in the Washington, D.C. area, currently exhibits her work widely both nationally and internationally. Her signature style, with lush colors and layers of expressive storytelling, extends to many genres, and her initial offerings for licensing include collections featuring heart-warming juvenile designs and whimsical Day of Dead illustrations. Regarding the diversity of her work, Claudia states: “Art is a daily process of discovery for me as sometimes I find myself painting like a young adolescent and other times I find my pieces belong to an ancient wise woman whose pictorial language is beyond my comprehension.”

Claudia’s paintings have been featured in several publications including on the cover of Coming Home by J. Pizarro, and on the cover of the CD, Octaves Beyond Silence featuring Eve Ensler and Indigo Girls, a CD made to benefit women survivors of violence in Rwanda, Bosnia & Afghanistan. Born in Washington D.C. to Chilean parents, Claudia was raised in Chile where she was witness to the political upheaval of the Allende-Pinochet years. Her family returned to the U.S. when she was thirteen years old. Claudia holds an MFA from Vermont College and part of her graduate study was spent investigating the role of the artist within her/his community, and how the arts make a difference by allowing the artist to form a dialogue with the community regarding socio/political issues. Claudia’s varied life experiences have all influenced her constant evolution as an artist and you can find more details about Claudia and her work at www.ParcaiDesigns.com.

Claudia’s designs will be on display in the Parcai Designs booth, #221, at Surtex 2014. Surtex is the most important show for the art and design business, and the only marketplace in North America dedicated to the sale and licensing of surface designs for products of all kinds.
